Key Factors for Successful Implants in the Esthetic Zone | Safe Distance Learning Webinar Series

Course Description:
Since implant dentistry has become a common treatment for replacing missing teeth, dentists have been trying to mimic natural tooth morphology in order to achieve both functional result and to fulfill the patient’s esthetic desires. What was considered the standard of care 26 years ago is not necessarily valid today. The criteria for implant include osseointegration and the possibility for optimal restoration. This presentation will focus on the management of the hard and soft tissue around dental implants and analyzing the characteristics of different periodontal biotypes. We will discuss basic concept regarding immediate implant placement and guided bone regeneration procedure related to the esthetic zone before focusing on the soft tissue management. We will describe the prosthetic procedures which are performed before, during and after the surgical procedures. Provisional restorations, impression techniques, prosthetic profiles and restorative materials will be presented. The purpose of the presentation is to provide a check list that will guide the clinician developing a proper analysis and diagnosis for the successful esthetic result with implant supported restoration.

Dr. Luca Gobbato
Padova, Italy
Dr. Luca Gobbato is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He received his Dental Degree (DDS) from University of Padova, Italy in July 2006.

Dr. Gobbato attended Tufts University for three years where he earned his MS (Master of Science in Periodontology) and his Certificate of Advance Education in Periodontology in June 2010. He also received a PhD from Universitad International de Catalunya, Barcelona in July 2016.

He is a Clinical instructor in the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection and Immunity, Division of Periodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he was appointed in 2011. Since January 2016 he is the director of the Periodontal Therapy III course at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In January 2012 he was also appointed Faculty in the Department of Periodontology, at University of Padova, and he is a Lecturer Master of Dental Implants, University of Padova. Since January 2015 he is the director of the english course titled: The importance of soft and hard tissue thickness in the achievement of esthetic results with the implant supported restoration.

He serves as reviewer for the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry (IJPRD) and for the Journal of Periodontology (JOP). He is an active member of the American Academy of Osseointegration (AO), Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO), Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (IAED) and a certificate member of the Italia Society of Periodontology (SidP).He is also a member of the scientific committee of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Gobbato is practicing in Padova and Vittorio Veneto (Treviso), Italy, limiting his practice to periodontics and implant dentistry since July 2010.
